
Bellali Austria is a Mexican choreographer, dancer and producer living in Norway since 2011. Her education consists of a master’s degree in flamenco pedagogy (dance) from Seville in Spain (2005 – 2010), and a bachelor’s degree in art and dance studies at the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes in Mexico (2000 – 2004). Bellali has also studied “Cultural Management” (Goethe Institute 2012).
Currently she works as a performing dancer, choreographer and producer.
As a performer, she is one of the few professional dancers in this field in Norway.
She has performed as a dancer on stages all over Europe, and on all continents. Bellali has extensive international experience in the dance field, both as a performer and as a producer, for example for Chaneki Flamenco Ensemble, Oslo International Flamenco Festival, Barbalé Flamenco Live, Samspill International Music and Mariachi Sol de Oslo.
Artistic activity
Dance as a socio-cultural movement for the integration of different cultures and how to create a better society through art has been an important research by Bellali Austria.
Bellali has a varied professional experience in dance.
In Norway, she has performed in Førde Festival, Smeltedigelen Festival, Oslo World Festival, Transform Festival, Globus Festival, The Norwegian Opera and Ballet; Porsgrunn theater festival; at important private events related to cultural diversity, NRK tv program and series, Samspill, at Drammen theater in addition to having taken part in various productions for DKS and Riksscenen. She has created various performances and festivals at Cosmopolite, Jakob Kirke, Riksscenen, Cafe Teatre, Melahuset and Kulturhuset.
Furthermore, she has staged various performances in collaboration with Nesodden Municipality, and performed at the Center for International Dance (Oslo), Flasken (Nesodden), Perla Mediterránea (Oslo) and Hellviktangen cultural center (Nesodden). She has been part of the Tablao Flamenco tour in Hedmark, in addition to private performances. Other shows and performances include Long journeys Brief encounters (Teaterkjelleren), Children’s World Days (Oslo World), Ceiba Parkteatret in Moss, performances in connection with the “Day of the Dead” at the Historical Museum in Oslo.
In 2012 she created an international dance company called “Ensemble Flamenco” (today Chaneki Flamenco Ensemble). This artistic initiative comes from the need to strengthen flamenco in Norway and to contribute to the exchange of professional flamenco artists between Norway and the rest of the world. The aim is to create music and dance performances, socio-cultural meetings in order to grow professionally and be enriched from other cultures. The company is a product of her recent research into cultural diversity through flamenco.
Bellali has been teaching flamenco dance since 2003.
In 2013, Bellali founded the flamenco school “Espacio flamenco Noruega” in Oslo. Bellali has otherwise taught at several dance schools and held workshops for both children and adults.
Abroad
She has also performed on stages and festivals in several cities around Norway and internationally in several cities and countries such as Japan, London, Lisbon, France, Brazil, Cuba, Japan, Germany, Morocco, Mexico, Bali and Spain.
